The event generated $17,849,500 in property sales, with 23 properties sold under the hammer or prior to auction from 41 auction opportunities, resulting in a 56 per cent clearance rate.

However, it was the level of buyer engagement that stood out most, with active bidding recorded on 37 of the 38 properties called throughout the day.

Buyer Demand Remains Deep in the Auckland Market

Ray White A T Realty auctioneer Robert Tulp said the results highlighted the depth of buyer demand still present in today’s market.

The standout statistic for us wasn’t just the clearance rate, it was the level of buyer participation. We recorded active bidding on 97 per cent of the properties called. In a market where many auction rooms are seeing significantly lower levels of engagement, that tells us buyers are still very much active and ready to compete.

The property belonged to Charlie Brothers himself, who had held it as an investment — making the result a genuine vote of confidence in the $1 reserve strategy.

With the market the way it is, I thought this was the best strategy. Even my partner said I was crazy, but I said you have to practice what you preach. I tell people all the time that they should sell their homes with a $1 reserve, so a big reason I wanted to do this was to put my money where my mouth is and show people I really believe in this strategy.

What the Results Mean for Auckland Property Sellers

Ray White A T Realty CEO Adam Thomson said the results reflected a market that continues to reward sellers who are prepared to engage with buyers and meet the market.

Markets evolve, but one thing remains constant — buyers compete when they’re given the opportunity. The level of bidding we saw throughout Game Day reinforces that confidence, and activity remains strong across our markets. Nearly 600 bids across a single day demonstrate there is still significant depth in the market. When vendors create competition and commit to the process, buyers respond.

— Adam Thomson, CEO, Ray White A T Realty

The latest Game Day event reinforced Ray White A T Realty’s position as one of New Zealand’s leading auction businesses. With buyers continuing to engage and compete, the results demonstrate that well-positioned properties and motivated vendors remain capable of achieving strong outcomes in today’s Auckland property market.
